This program teaches the fundamentals of track & field events. Practice times are dependent on the runner's grade; see below for specific grade information. In addition to practices, home and away parish meets are provided, and runners are encouraged to participate. Meets may be held on a Saturday or Sunday (event times TBA). Regional events, sponsored by the Catholic Youth Organization of Long Island (CYOLI), are scheduled only in the Spring, and runners are selected to participate based on race times throughout the season.
- Open to boys and girls in grades 1 through 8.
- The Spring season runs late-March through mid-June at the Massapequa High School Track.
- The Fall season runs September through mid-November at the Berner Middle School Track.
- Note: The MHS and Berner Track bathrooms are not open during practice. Portable restrooms may be available, but are not guaranteed.
- Participants must wear running sneakers and comfortable clothes to practices. Water bottle is recommended.
- The St. Rose CYO track jersey is required for all Track Meets and Regional events and will be available for purchase the first week of practice.
Registration Requirements: Due to program enrollment limitations, St. Rose CYO will accept only those registrations that meet one (1) of the following requirements. Registrations that do not meet the requirement listed below will be canceled.
1. Participant lives in the 11758/11762 zip code; -OR-
2. Participant attends St. Rose of Lima school; -OR-
3. Participant has registered and actively participated in St Rose CYO track within the last year.
Season Schedule: The entire practice schedule will be posted at the start of the season. Please note all dates are tentative and may change due to weather or MSD venue conflicts.
Practices are held twice a week (see below). The dates and time of all additional events (Meets, CYOLI Regionals, etc.) will be posted as they become available.
