Dear CYO Families,
Before
the start of each season—including the Fall season and every subsequent
8-12-week sports season—the St. Rose CYO program proactively contacts the St. Rose Faith
Formation program to identify potential scheduling conflicts. We prioritize our
scheduling to enable families to attend age-appropriate Mass, with older
children attending the 5:15 PM Sunday Mass and younger children
attending the 10:00 AM Mass or one of the other three masses offered.
For
sports requiring coordination with community facilities, such as
swimming and track, we provide schedules in advance so families can plan
accordingly and can attend one of the four other masses offered. While
swim and track meets can be lengthy due to venue and participant
availability (often limited to weekends), we ensure that practices are
kept to a maximum of 90 minutes, allowing families ample opportunity to
fulfill their Mass obligations.
If
scheduling conflicts arise due to unforeseen changes in either St. Rose Faith
Formation or St.Rose CYO sport schedules, we consistently emphasize that attending
Faith Formation takes precedence and assure families that their child’s
standing on the team will not be impacted by their commitment to
religious education.
CYO of Long Island (CYOLI)
also supports any religious events and will work with each parish to
reschedule and blackout dates that conflict with Faith Formation.
