St. Rose CYO Intramural Basketball is an extensive program that averages 1500-2000 participants and 250 teams each season. Our mission is to create an environment where athletes of all skill levels can develop their athletic skills, be part of a team, and create lasting friendships.
St Rose CYO offers a clinic-based program for our youngest players in grades K & 1, game-based practices for players in grades 2 & 3, and competitive league play for players in grades 4 through 12. We create teams through a draft ranking process to achieve fair and balanced teams (grades 2 - 12). As a result, we do not accept player requests for specific team placement. This program is a coed skill-based clinic open to boys and girls in grades K & 1. St. Rose CYO and Game 7 Basketball partner to teach the fundamentals of basketball in a fun setting. We introduce dribbling, passing, and shooting skills as players rotate from station to station. There are no teams in this division. If you want your child to be in the same session as another player(s), please communicate with those players to coordinate before registering. Please note that session sizes are limited, so register early.
This program is open to boys and girls in grades 2 & 3 and includes a boys and girls division for each grade. St. Rose CYO runs this program will the help of parent volunteers as coaches. The program consists of a 90-minute session once a week. Each session will include 45 minutes of practice/skills followed by a 45-minute scrimmage between the two teams scheduled. Teams will have a rotating schedule which means your team's session day and time will change from week to week.
This program is open to boys and girls in grade 4 and includes a boys and girls division. St. Rose CYO runs this program will the help of parent volunteers as coaches. The program consists of a 1-hour practice and a 1-hour game each week to continue the athlete's skill development and then use these skills in a game environment. Games will include one CYO referee, and a CYO scorekeeper will keep the game time and score. The score resets to zero at half-time. At this level, St. Rose CYO does not emphasize wins and losses. Instead, we emphasize teamwork and sportsmanship and building the athlete's knowledge and love of the game. Therefore, there are no playoffs at this level.
This program is open to boys and girls in grades 5 through 7 and includes a boys and girls division for each grade. St. Rose CYO runs this program will the help of parent volunteers as coaches. The program consists of a 1-hour practice and a 1-hour game each week to continue the athlete's skill development and then use these skills in a competitive game environment. Games will include two CYO referees, and a CYO scorekeeper will keep the game time and score. At this level, we record game scores and team standings. Single-elimination playoffs will follow the regular season. The championship games for this level commence on "Super Saturday" (which tentatively falls on the first weekend in March). Although this is a competitive program, St. Rose CYO emphasizes teamwork and sportsmanship and building the athlete's knowledge and love of the game.
This program is open to boys in grades 8 through 12. St. Rose CYO runs this program will the help of adult volunteers as coaches. The program consists of two (2) 1-hour games each week. Games will include two CYO referees, and a CYO scorekeeper will keep the game time and score. At this level, we record game scores and team standings. Double-elimination playoffs will follow the regular season. Although this is a competitive program, St. Rose CYO emphasizes teamwork and sportsmanship. Athletes enjoy playing in this league because it provides a way to stay in shape and connect with friends through the game of basketball.
Due to a decline in enrollment numbers in girls basketball in grades 8 through 12, St. Rose CYO had to make the following changes;
We combined 8th-grade with 7th-grade, thus creating one single 7th/8th grade girls division. The 7/8 grade girls division follows the same guidelines as Grades 5-7. Due to an increase in interest in girls' basketball in grades 9 through 12, St. Rose CYO is accepting registrations for the upcoming season. Single or combined grade divisions will be determined based on enrollment. CYO must field a minimum of four teams for the program to run successfully. The 9-12 grade girls division follows the same guidelines as Grades 8-12 (Boys).
